The talent is refined under the guidance of a genius. The appointment of Wasim Akram as a bowling mentor to the budding pacers of Delhi testifies the statement. We saw the effect of the presence of the legend on the performance of young seemers last year too. They didn’t only learn the basics of fast bowling, but also learned the effect of mental toughness directly on the bowling. So, this year too the trend is continued. Wasim Akram is, undoubtedly, the Sultan of Swings. He has an uncanny style of building rapport with the kids. Everyone in the camp really enjoyed his company, and was not bogged down by his aura. He didn’t ask anyone to change his style completely; instead he brought to notice the possible point of correction to their bowling, which really helped everyone. The camp has helped me learn a lot personally. My basic role in the camp was to identify talent and keep the track on their post camp improvements. However, I personally gained a lot about reverse swing, Yorkers from Wasim Akram, which I believe would help me a lot in my role as the coach of Delhi Ranji Team. I believe such camps are adding a great value to the youth cricketers in Delhi. DDCA in the past has organized different batting and bowling camps with Shivlal Yadav, Gundappa Vishwanath. DDCA is also in discussion with Jonty Rodes to give the basic tips of fielding to the Delhi youngsters.
